DFR
Introduction and BackgroundDFR provides a new way to visualize JSTOR data and access to download word frequency data. This site differs from the main JSTOR site because the data can be manipulated, extended or compacted to suit the research conducted. The data can then be filtered in various ways to produced desired results. The visualization facilities are provided to allow exploration and refinement of datasets before they are downloaded for offline analysis and use. You are able to use previously generated data sets or you are free to generate your own using a built-in search facility. The data is generated from extensively processed and labeled versions of the OCR text.
DescriptionThe Explorer tool is the main interface you see. You have the option to add search terms, specific journals, sub-sets of the disciplines, and even change the data ranges. As your search is refined, the pie chart on the right will automatically update to show the article counts in the specific disciplines.
When you have finished building your query, simply click on submit, and your query will be submitted for processing.
Once submitted, you can view the progress of your query's processing through the My DFR Queries page. Once complete you can download your results to your local machine.
